[ARCHIVED] Strawberry Hill a Favorite for Breeding American Kestrels

AKestrel - Strawberry Hill - 06-09-19 1600-PhilBrown

As a result of the long term decline in breeding Kestrels in New England, Essex County in particular, in part due to habitat loss, Phil has used his expertise and interest to construct, install, maintain and manage a number of Kestrel boxes throughout Essex County. Every season he monitors the boxes, and based on the past seven years of Kestrel chicks hatched and fledged at Strawberry Hill, Phil considers it the most successful and productive of the locations he oversees. Likely due to the cold, wet spring, this season got off to a late start by two weeks, although the pair still managed to raise four chicks. Click here to watch a short video compilation on Phil's YouTube channel of this springs hatchlings. Looking forward to seeing what next spring brings for Kestrel success stories!
