The Open Space Committee is a seven-member committee appointed by the Town Moderator to pursue Town goals related to the conservation and protection of open space properties throughout town. The Committee oversees the Town's Open Space Bond land acquisition and conservation program, initially approved in 2000 and renewed in 2011, and is responsible for reviewing and updating the Open Space and Recreation Plan every 7 years. The last update was in 2013.
Members and alternates of the Ipswich Open Space Committee should have demonstrable knowledge, interest, and ability to effectively carry out the committee’s responsibilities. The committee meets once a month in the evenings. Each appointment is for a one-year term.
