[ARCHIVED] NEW DATE! - Ipswich Schools and Police sponsor Screening of powerful documentary on Addiction

On Thursday March 24th at 7pm the Ipswich High School, in cooperation with the Ipswich Police Department, is sponsoring a screening of the powerful HBO documentary, "Heroin: Cape Cod USA," in the Dolan Performing Arts Center (PAC). We encourage parents, guardians, community members, and high school age students to attend this film. The documentary contains depressing subject matter and graphic descriptions of drug use and is not appropriate for younger children.
While thankfully we do not believe that opiate addiction is a problem for Ipswich High School students currently, we share the concerns of the police department and public health officials that opiate abuse is becoming more prevalent in our own community as well as those that surround us, and its results are devastating. The HBO documentary is especially appropriate as the communities highlighted in the film share many similarities with Ipswich, and the young people struggling with and dying from addiction in the film could just as easily be our friends, relatives, or neighbors.
