With the help of a group of committed volunteers and two MassLIFT/Americorps members, the Town’s Open Space Program was able to put another dent in the regional effort to control and eradicate invasive Perennial Pepperweed in the Great Marsh. The crew, led by Maggie Brown, the Open Space Programs Land Steward Americorp member, spent the day at Strawberry Hill and Nichols Field where the plant has tried to take hold. Since 2008 the Town has assisted in the effort locally, by leading and organizing volunteer work days at Town properties where the plant has been spotted. And the effort appears to be successful because each year less of the invasive plant returns. Many thanks to the volunteers who took time to come and help!
