New England Mosquito Control will begin treating catch basins for mosquitoes in Ipswich, starting today, Friday, July 22nd. This operation will take us approximately 4 days to complete. They use a long term product that affects mosquito larvae within the basins by not allowing them to emerge as flying adults. This should give coverage in all catch basins for the remainder of the summer. The treatment is done each year in all communities, to help reduce the threat of West Nile Virus which can be carried by the Culex mosquitoes that like to breed in catch basins.
